What is hypnosis?
The origins of hypnosis go back more than two millennia – even the good ol’ Egyptians knew about it!
If you’ve watched Get Out or any other movie or TV show depicting hypnosis or witnessed stage hypnosis shows, please don’t let these scenes fool you:
Hypnosis is NOT someone else (me in this case) controlling your mind!
With hypnosis, us hypnotists and hypnotherapists simply help you access your subconscious mind by putting your body and conscious mind into a completely relaxed trance state – think meditation or day dreaming.
Then, we give your subconscious mind the suggestions that YOU told us in an interview beforehand. If we told you anything you didn’t want to hear, you’d wake up immediately. Why? Because all your morals and values including your survival instinct are ingrained in your subconscious mind.
Unless you really wanted to walk into a corner and do the chicken dance or act like a rabbit on crack – we couldn’t make you do that.
Nowadays, hypnosis is primarily used to help people making their mind work for them, for example:
- forming new, beneficial habits such as working out more, eating healthy, and being more productive;
- kicking bad habits to the curb such as smoking, nail biting, thinking of your ex, or eating too much candy;
- working through psychological issues such as childhood traumas and bad experiences.
In other cases, hypnosis is also used for pain control and can even replace anesthetics.
Hypnosis also lets you go back in time to solve any issues that resulted from events your conscious mind buried long ago. And if you believe in past lives, hypnosis allows you to explore them as well!

Why does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis works with your subconscious mind, which listens to positive suggestions easily.
To give you a simplified example:
If I told you to eat healthier while you’re not under hypnosis, your conscious mind would go: “Why? What does that mean? When do I start? How do I do that?” and would forget about all the questions and resolutions rather quickly.
Your subconscious mind on the other hand would simply say: “Ok. I want to eat healthier and I know it’s better for me, so I will do it” and store this information.
That’s why hypnosis works.
I’ve never been hypnotized before. What will happen?
I will personally take all the time you need to explain hypnosis to you in a way that you’ll understand it, so you know that you’re in complete control all of the time.
Can everyone be hypnotized?
Yes. And remember: All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
